Haruka flipped the page of his book casually as he scanned the page. Today he sat outside on a bench in the courtyard of the Academy, enjoying the sunny weather after the rainy week he had faced previously. While some considered it too hot outside to wear a long-sleeved flannel shirt he thought otherwise and didn't mind the heat his shirt and dark blue jeans brought him.
She slipped through the pathways, her bag thrown over her shoulder. She was still fuming over an argument with Alice. You said you'd have him around your finger blah blah blah. Okay so maybe she wasn't clicking with the boy but it's not her fault he got nothing she said. Someone should slap him with modern culture. She sighed and jumped out of her skin when she saw the devil. Jesus. She didn't see him for a week or so and there he was, the moment she was thinking about him. She glanced around before walking up to him, "hey." Time to prove Alice wrong.
"Moving through school, really," she said with a shrug, "and it's okay...there's no rush." She studied his face. What was up his ass? "Sorry for bothering you...I just wanted to say hi." With that, she turned on her heel and began to walk away.
"I asked because I wanted to see if it would be worth my time re-arranging my schedule to better acommdate your presence." He opened his book again, half ready to return to his dorm to read in peace. "You don't seem to enjoy having me around, and frankly, I don't either. It's like you're being forced to talk to someone you dislike. I think I might have to leave in a couple of minutes anyway."
"Yes, well, maybe I don't have that many friends and I thought we could be a comrade in arms. But I can't exactly get to know you well if your heads up your ass. Not everyone's out to get you. This is a school, not a battlefield," she muttered. "I realized you probably would, we're walking somewhere, I assumed you had a direction."
He simply shrugged in response to her previous words, not affected by them. "I am walking somewhere. You'll know my destination when you see me get there. Now, do you want to hang out some other time?"
