Looking Into My Life

Ji-yeon Kang 1

Personality

Ji-yeon is a very dominant and independent person who refuses to take no as an answer. She is a natural leader, and is used to people following her, hence her gang. As the third eldest sibling, Ji-yeon held a lot more responsibilities then the average teen, which sculpted her into a strong responsible role model for her younger brothers. She is usually very humble and doesn't delight in telling lies, nor does she like liars.

She has a strong hate for manipulators, but to protect someone she cares she would ask for their help. She is quite protective of her heart, therefore having most of her emotions closed off from the outside world in fear of having her heart broken. Unlike most "tough" girls, Ji-yeon does not only play the role of an independent woman, but is a independent woman.

Like the rest of her family, Ji-yeon is very intelligent, and shares the "fast learner" gene of her mother, and the "quick thinking" gene from her father, just as she received water and earth from her mother and father. As a bi-elemental who was once in hiding about her double elements, Ji-yeon has trouble trusting people, as doesn't open up quickly.

She is quite weary about anyone who shows kindness to her, or attempts to be her friend, for she does not want to be a fool who faces betrayal. She will play the game with whoever attempts to however, and until they prove to her they are not a threat, will she really open up to them.

History

Ji-yeon Kang was born on December 30th in Seoul, South Korea. She lived in South Korea for twelve years before moving to the Water Kingdom back in Elementrium as Jae-sun and Gyeong had to go to school in Elementrium to master their powers.

During her twelve year period in Korea, this is where Ji-yeon's character really came into a solid foundation. Although most of her family moved back to Elementrium after the birth of the twins, Ji-yeon chose to stay in Korea with an old family friend until she was twelve, giving her at least one year in Elementrium before she went to school

Throughout her early childhood years, Ji-yeon had really made a name for herself in the small neighborhood she lived in, and in school. During school, she was known to be in the top of her class, and in her neighborhood, she was known to be the toughest girl around, who took no dirt from anyone. Children in both school and her neighborhood not only feared her (sometimes :D) but respected her.

Around her ninth birthday is where she really showed she was leader when she had to do this project with a group of kids she'd never worked with, or frankly talked with either. Because they were all unfamiliar with each other, it was quite awkward, but Ji-yeon took the lead and began organizing the plans and giving out jobs to each student.

Along the way, she forced them to introduce themselves to each other, and they actually became quite good friends.

As she approached her twelfth birthday, Ji-yeon already seemed to have her life together. She had been planning every bit of her first year, from her study schedules, to her homework hours, to the time she woke up at, and the time she went to sleep at. She kept tabs on applications for school sports her older sister, Gyeong sent her, and even wrote a persuasive essay to get her parents to allow her to continue dance and swimming back Korea, as long as she figured out away to transport herself from both planets easily.

Everything gone as planned during first year, and the plan she composed for second year went well too. But the transitional summer from second year to third year is what changed her forever. Ji-yeon had been visiting that family friend she had lived with for twelve years back in Korea, and even staying with them for a few weeks.

She hadn't been aware there was a new "tough girl" in the streets, or that she was an elemental herself, so when she came across the girl, she had no time to prepare for what happened next. The two dueled with their powers in an abandoned alleyway, and Ji-yeon had won fairly, but the girl was a sore loser. So when Ji-yeon turned to leave, the girl blasted her in the back with her powers, knocking her into a coma.

When Ji-yeon came out of that coma, two months later, she was a changed person. She no longer though as she used to, and no longer believed in the rules she had once set for herself. She believed in her instincts, taking risks, depending on her strength and smarts, and most importantly, trust.

Ji-yeon would never be as trusting, as naive, again. She would keep her tabs on everyone, and anyone she thought could be a possible threat. She was no longer the strong and sweet leader everyone had knew her to be. She was a rebel, and that's how she would remain for the rest of her life....

Well, unless she falls in love.

"Yes, I've made mistakes. Life didn't come with instructions and even if it did, I wouldn't follow them anyway."

Strengths, Weaknesses, Likes & Dislikes

Main Strengths

Ji-yeon is physically stronger then most average females her age. She is trained in Karate and Gymnastics, and using a combination of these techniques has come up with her own fighting style that is unpredictable to the enemy, and coordinated for her. Like her siblings, she's very agile and nimble on her feet, being known in Korea to win many running competitions. She is a good swimmer mainly because she's a water elemental and can therefore breathe underwater, but she still plays fair at meets.

Main Weaknesses

Ji-yeon is fairly decent in climbing, and is better then her brother, Seok, but still struggles with rocky areas, as she can't hold unto ledges that long. Even though she is trained in gymnastics and parkour, landing from short distance buildings are tricky for her, since she hasn't mastered landing in a roll yet.

Likes

Ji-yeon, like Seung, is a fan of KPOP music, one of her favorite artists being CL, and her favorite groups being 2NE1, EXID, Girls' Generation, Red Velvet, GOT7, BTS, EXO, and SHINee. She loves eating Yakwa, a Korean desert, and her favorite drink would be lemonade or fruit punch. She loves boxing, which she does as a hobby, and swimming also.

Dislikes

Ji-yeon despises anyone who hurts someone else for personal benefit, heart-breakers, and people who pretend to be something they are not. She doesn't like people who restrain her either, and wants to be able to be who she is without anyone trying to change her.

Relationships

Family Relationships

Mother: They are extremely distant, because her mother is usually never around.

Father: It's the same as her mother. They don't talk whatsoever, even when he occasionally comes home early from work.

Gyeong: Their relationship needs work, but it's better then most of her siblings relationships with Gyeong. They talk occasionally, sometimes Skype if Gyeong is up for it.

Jae-sun: Pretty decent, better then Gyeong's. They have weekly calls and Skype at least three times a month. About every three weeks they meet up in a cafe to talk..

Seung: Ji-yeon is quite protective of her younger brother, as she knew what it was like to grow up with no parental support. She was lucky she had Gyeong and Jae-sun to help her, but Seung had been isolated child for quite awhile, so she established a very strong bond with him that still lasts till this day.

Hyuk: Practically raising him and his brother alongside with Seung, Ji-yeon and Hyuk are great friends, and have a good relationship with the other. Although Ji-yeon wouldn't be the first person Hyuk would go to for help, she's just glad he would ever come to her for advice.

Hyung-Seok: As a fellow (secret) troublemaker, Ji-yeon knows Seok's struggles and will help him whenever he needs it.

Friend Relationships

She can't really call her gang her "friends", since they aren't really friends in her mind. More like mindless followers.

Love Relationships

These are non-existent. Ji-yeon refuses to make any emotional ties with another person for fear of her heart being broken.

Other

Michiko Rikimaru: It's kind of tense and awkward between the two. Ji-yeon is weary of Michiko, as she doesn't want her brother's heart broken, but at the same time, kind of enjoys her presence.
