Born and raised in Chicago, Luna had a fairly normal childhood. Her parents, both Dark Users who had gone to the Academy were normal for the most part. They both had jobs, her mother Abigail working as an accountant, and her father Johnathan as an architect. Luna is an only child, so she was greatly spoiled. She was taught to be respectful and diligent from a young age. Something that prove useful in her time at the Academy. The schools in Chicago were probably the worst in the world. They were very run down and that was obvious. The Observers had been around as long as Luna had been able to remember. Her first day of school, she noticed a pair. Clipboards in hand, watching the children like hawks, but hiding from sight. They wore dark arm bands with an "X" symbol on them and were always around. They took quite an interest in Luna and she was terrified. She was too afraid to tell anyone, including her parents.
Once she left elementary school and went into middle school, she noticed they were around more often. Not just once a week, sometimes twice, but every day. Always a pair of them, watching. She became accustomed to it, but continued to not tell anyone. Maybe this is a normal thing... She always told herself there was some reason for it all. But little did she know she was in grave danger. Aside from her stalkers, Luna's school life was average. She kept to herself and studied often. She was usually the top in her class. Luna had big dreams, to do big things, and she made it a goal to achieve them, no matter what. She often spent time dreaming of her future.
When she wasn't day dreaming, she was studying, or she was alone in her room. Luna always kept to herself, and she liked it that way. People were odd creatures. So unpredictable, so untrustable. Her stalkers only added more fear, only furthering Luna's reclusiveness.
Finally, as 8th grade came and neared to an end, Luna grew anxious. She was being watched more and more. It wasn't just at school now. They followed her home. They were at the park, the store, gas stations. Everywhere. But no one else aside from her saw them.
Her parents had never told her of her powers, for her own safety. But once Luna became worried enough to tell them, they spilled the beans. They told her of her capability and how those following her wanted her as a weapon. They only had once choice. To send her away to The Academy.
